Changing Saddles on a 335

Just bought some tusq saddles, mostly for looks. Here’s the surgery:

The ABR-1 bridge was a lot simpler than the one on my !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! as it didn’t have any weird clips to deal with. Just screw the saddles in and push the part down onto the bridge.

But oh no! That’s not right; the screws were angled too high and were in the way of the string. Trip to the hardware store oncoming...

I bought a file and began saving down the underside of “arms” of the saddles. Cocaine everywhere.

The color doesn’t quite match the binding, but I still think it looks better. I replaced the knobs too.

Gorgeous 335! My Jazzmaster needs a Mastery Bridge so I’ll be doing similar surgery soon.

I have Tusq pins on my acoustics, but haven’t given much thought to saddles. This could be great on my PRS.

That’s what I had. I got gold ones but after I put them on they clashed with the binding or the finish, so I ended up with these.

Very nice. I should do this with my LP. I replaced the plastic nut on my Strat with a Tusq one and was quite surprised with the difference in tone.

Are yours Gibsons or Epis?
